The Halifax Institute of Traditional and Early Music has two terms:

  • Fall: Sept. 11/23 through Jan. 31/24

  • Spring: Feb. 1/24 through June 9/24

    Programming is continuous throughout the year and ordinarily participants register for both terms. You can register separately for the Fall term in September and the Spring term at the end of January, or you can take advantage of a discount by registering for both terms at once in the Fall - see below.

There are two streams of instruction: Traditional Music, and Early Music.

  • If you register for one stream, you are welcome to freely visit the open activities of the other stream as well.

  • Regardless of which stream you are most interested in, the tuition is the same flat rate: $300.00 per term

  • Discount: If you register for both terms at once in the fall, you can save $20.00, for a total of $580.00 for both terms instead of $600.00

how to register:

Email us with your intent to register. You will be emailed back an invoice, which you may pay directly via the link in the invoice by credit card, or alternatively by e-transfer or cheque instead. Once you have paid, you will receive the invoice marked “Paid”.

Email is heavily relied upon for our scheduling purposes, so you must monitor your email and/or check this website for scheduling updates.
